Awards and recognition I have received for my general work in arts and culture.
- A recipient of the "Space to Take Place" Award by the Royal Netherlands Embassy, for people who have made a contribution to the transformation of South African society. Other recipients included Dr Mamphele Ramphele, Sibongile Khumalo, Ferial Haffajee, Pieter Dirk Uys, Moeletsi Mbeki and Pallo Jordan.
- Appointed Programme Director of the World Summit on Arts and Culture (2009)
- Appointed Artist-in-Residence, Kosmopolis and Theater de Appel, The Hague, (2008)
- Appointed as the Secretariat to the Arterial Network (2007)
- Appointed as artist-in-residence at University of Cape Town’s Drama Department (2006)
- Listed in Insig magazine as one of the top ten most influential people in arts and culture in South Africa (2006).
- Listed in the first editions of the Financial Mail’s “The Little Black Book: A guide to black professionals in South Africa.”
- Selected the Arts and Culture Trust Arts Journalist of the Year for The Cultural Weapon column on Artslink.co.za, 2001.
- Awarded the Cape Tercentenary Foundation’s Molteno Silver Medal for contributing to the performing arts, 2001.
- Listed in the Mail and Guardian’s 'Top 100 South Africans' 1997 supplement.
- Listed in the Weekly Mail and Guardian’s A-Z of South African Politics (Profiles) in 1995.
